The Last Resort - Emily Gallo

What happens when a bunch of misfits who have been ostracized by the world come together in one place as a last resort.

Uniqueness: The storyline is pretty unique, but you will find yourself following the characters and ending up relating to them on some level.

Predictability: The only thing predictable aspect of the story would be when you'd expect the characters to end up at the last resort. The story follows a different path once all of them are together. But still manages to be unpredictable.

Cost Worth: The book is easily affordable at Rs 200 for the kindle edition.

Writing Style: Here is where the book is unique. I specifically found the writing style pretty refreshing. Unlike most books where there is a lot of description about the surroundings, which often leads to writers digressing or losing readers, the author is to the point. Describing where required. The book's main focus was the story and the lives of the people at the farm. The character development was beautiful. Everybody had their own sets of life lessons.

Entertainment: The book has its ups and downs in terms of pace. There were times when I was on the edge of my seat flipping pages, and there were times where I was a little more relaxed. Overall I enjoyed the journey and loved how the characters finally found a place for themselves in the world.

Verdict: The Last Resort is a tale of taking a second chance at life. The characters develop throughout the story and become a family in the end. I have a feeling this is going to come to Netflix at some point. While the ending might have been a bit sudden, I do believe there is a season 2 in the making.
